Took care of the misfire issue this afternoon, and decided it was time to do the first real burnout in the truck, as well as take a nice photo of it. The misfire turned out to be caused by my timing being about 8 degrees retarded, most likely caused by me setting initial timing when the truck was idling too high. Anyways, a buddy and I drove out a nice secluded country road, laid a nice stripe (damn open diff), then took the pic.

Thats a great looking truck! The steelies really bring it all together. I love it.

Thanks. It's definitely a lot rougher than maybe it looks in the picture, and it's a work in progress, but I love the look as it is right now.

Is that a '73-ish Cheyenne Super?

Yup. 74 Cheyenne Super with a 454 and a turbo 400.

It looks so pretty! I don't even like trucks. Would definitely look WORSE with perfect paint.

What model is it? And what year? I'm trying to find a good pickup truck for my brother and he would love a truck like this.

Paint will come eventually. I have to take care of the rust first, and that will take awhile, so paint, if it comes, will be very far down the road. But thanks! I really do love how it looks now.

It's a 74 Chevy C10. The 73-late 70s are a good generation, especially the 73 and 74 (after that, smog equipment started choking the engines down). They are less desirable than the earlier generation C10s (67-72), and as a result, can be had for a lot cheaper. I picked mine up in running condition for $2100. I trailered it home to be safe, but it was driveable when I got it. A little cleaning up, some wiring work and other odds and ends, and it was very driveable.
Then the carb died and I started doing all my performance mods, but I digress.
Trucks are great entry level "muscle" vehicles. Plus, bench seats are a hit with the ladies.

Something about the old truck that looks like it was used as a truck, plus those steelies that some how pull it all together just make it awesome!

I do love the steelies. Cheap and sexy. I think I paid $90/rim. Deal.

Well I've had the truck for awhile so I've already done a decent amount. If you click on the posts tag, you can see my other posts about the project but the bulk of it is, new intake and carb, customers 3 inch exhaust with long tube headers I fabbed up myself, some interior work and a lot of chasing down electrical and mechanical gremlins.
I think all I want to do performance wise is swap in am Eaton lsd with a higher gear ratio and maybe do a cam swap.
